Dental bonding can be used to treat a wide variety of cosmetic flaws. This includes gaps, stains, slightly-crooked, uneven, or misshapen teeth. Bonding is highly versatile and surprisingly affordable.
To begin treatment, Dr. Carlson or Dr. Cade will clean your teeth and prepare their surfaces to provide the bonding material with a stronger hold. Then, a tooth-colored composite resin that matches your natural teeth will be selected and applied directly to your teeth.
Next, the resin is sculpted, molded, and trimmed using dental tools until it looks just like a natural part of your smile. This process can be repeated for each tooth that requires treatment, and usually takes only about 30-60 minutes per tooth.
Veneers work by covering up and replacing the front chewing surfaces of your teeth. They are made of very thin porcelain material, which is designed to be permanently attached to the front of your teeth. By doing so, veneers can cover up almost any cosmetic flaw in your smile, including serious staining, gaps in your teeth, and much more.
The treatment process usually takes two appointments. First, your teeth will be prepared. Dr. Cade or Dr. Carlson will clean and numb your mouth and remove a very thin layer of enamel from each tooth. Once this process is complete, we’ll take images and impressions of your teeth.
This information will be sent to our dental lab, where your veneers will be made. This process takes a few weeks, so you will be sent home with a set of temporary veneers to wear in the meantime. Once your permanent veneers arrive, you’ll come back for your final appointment. We will check them to ensure they look perfect, then Dr. Cade or Dr. Carlson will attach them to your teeth with dental cement to complete the procedure.
At our office, we use high-quality ZOOM! Teeth Whitening products. You can brighten your smile up to 8 shades in just 1 hour with this professional-grade whitening treatment. First, your lips and gums will be isolated from your teeth with special retractors, and a special gel will be painted into your gums to prevent contact with the whitening solution.
Then, the ZOOM! whitening gel is applied. This bleaching gel contains powerful hydrogen peroxide, which is activated with a specially-designed light source. The whitening gel will destroy the chemical bonds that hold stains onto your teeth, essentially “bleaching” them. This process may be repeated up to 2 more times depending on your level of staining and your desired level of tooth whiteness.
